Product Overview
The KOZO C95800 Aluminum Bronze Pneumatic Trunnion Ball Valve is designed for marine, seawater, offshore and other corrosive process services where a nickel-aluminum bronze pressure-containing body is preferred. The reference configuration uses an ASTM B148 C95800 body, RPTFE seats, RF flanged ends and a single-acting pneumatic actuator.
Unlike a conventional floating-ball design, the ball is supported by trunnions. This arrangement reduces the load transferred to the seats as line pressure increases and is commonly selected for larger valve sizes or applications where lower operating torque and stable shut-off performance are important. The pneumatic actuator enables remote quarter-turn operation and can be configured for a defined fail position according to the project control philosophy.
Why C95800 Nickel-Aluminum Bronze?
UNS C95800 is a cast nickel-aluminum bronze covered by ASTM B148. Nickel-aluminum bronzes are widely used in marine valves, pumps, fittings and other seawater-handling equipment because they combine useful mechanical properties with corrosion resistance in many marine environments. Actual suitability still depends on water chemistry, velocity, temperature, alloy quality and the complete valve configuration, so final material selection should be checked against the real service conditions.
Key Design Features
- Trunnion-mounted ball: Supports the ball independently of the seats and helps control operating torque in larger valve sizes.
- Split-body construction: Provides practical access to the internal ball, seats and stem components during maintenance.
- C95800 pressure-containing body: Nickel-aluminum bronze construction for marine and compatible corrosive services.
- RPTFE soft seat: Reference configuration for tight shut-off in compatible temperature and media conditions.
- Single-acting pneumatic actuator: Supports remote on/off operation and spring-return fail-safe arrangements.
- RF flanged ends: Reference configuration in accordance with the specified ASME flange standard.
- Project-configurable accessories: Solenoid valves, limit switches, position indicators, air filter regulators and control accessories can be supplied according to the automation requirement.

Pneumatic Actuation
The reference valve is supplied with a single-acting pneumatic actuator. Spring-return actuators can be arranged as fail-close or fail-open depending on the process safety requirement. Actuator sizing should be based on valve torque, differential pressure, air-supply pressure, required safety factor and operating frequency rather than valve size alone.
Optional automation accessories may include a solenoid valve, limit-switch box, position indicator, air filter regulator, manual override and positioner where modulating control is required.
Typical Applications
- Marine cooling-water systems
- Seawater intake and discharge
- Offshore and FPSO utility piping
- Desalination plants
- Ballast-water and marine auxiliary systems
- Compatible chemical and process-water services
Materials and Configuration Options
The 8 in Class 150 C95800/RPTFE configuration is a reference arrangement rather than a universal specification. Other sizes, pressure classes, seat materials, trim materials, actuator types and end connections may be available subject to engineering review. For aggressive media, elevated temperature or unusual chloride concentration, the complete materials list should be checked before ordering.
Applicable Standards
- API 6D – reference design standard for the valve configuration
- ASME B16.10 – face-to-face dimensions
- ASME B16.5 – reference flanged-end standard
- API 598 – inspection and pressure testing
Any additional project certification, fire testing, fugitive-emission requirement or third-party inspection should be specified at the inquiry stage and confirmed against the supplied valve documentation.
How to Specify This Valve
For a fast and accurate quotation, please provide the required valve size, pressure class, body/trim material, seat material, end connection, operating medium, design temperature, differential pressure, actuator type, fail position, air-supply pressure, accessory requirements and quantity.
FAQ
Is C95800 suitable for seawater?
C95800 nickel-aluminum bronze is widely used in marine valves and seawater-handling equipment. Final suitability still depends on the actual water chemistry, temperature, velocity and complete valve design.
Why use a trunnion-mounted ball instead of a floating ball?
A trunnion-mounted design supports the ball mechanically and limits the load transferred to the seats. It is commonly preferred for larger sizes and applications where stable operating torque is important.
Can the actuator be fail-close or fail-open?
Yes. A spring-return pneumatic actuator can be configured for the required fail position, subject to actuator sizing and the plant safety philosophy.
Can KOZO supply other sizes and pressure classes?
Yes, depending on the requested configuration. The 8 in Class 150 valve shown here is a reference configuration; alternative sizes, ratings, seats, accessories and actuator packages can be reviewed against the project specification.
